Tyler was born in Labrador City, Newfoundland. He spent much of his youth camping and fishing with his family in the Churchill Falls area of Labrador. In 1974 he moved to London, Ontario at the age of ten.
In 1987 Tyler entered the prestigious National Canadian Chrysler Wildlife competition and was awarded second place with his acrylic study of a Harp seal pup.In 1990, while living in Ontario, two of Tyler’s original paintings titled “Brown Eyes” and “White Hunter” were released as limited editions.In 1991, a yearning for travel and to see new types of wildlife brought Tyler to Western Canada and he settled in Edmonton, Alberta and a year later he moved to Wetaskiwin.To date, over 60 of Tyler’s original paintings have been released as limited edition reproductions. Many limited Edition reproductions have achieved sold out status.
